Jim Dobleske to Succeed Dave Dubensky as Ford Land Chair and CEO
DEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 9, 2021—Ford Land, a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, supporting the implementation of an ambitious plan to grow and create value, will continue that work with a new leader, as Jim Dobleske succeeds a retiring Dave Dubensky as chair and CEO.
Dobleske will join Ford Land from CBRE, where he was the global president of Project Management. Dubensky will step away at the end of the year after more than 30 years with Ford, where he’s most recently been driving transformational projects supporting the Ford+ strategic plan, including the evolution of Ford’s Research & Engineering Center in Dearborn into a walkable, interconnected campus that fosters and speeds innovation.
“This is a case of going from strength to strength in the leadership of Ford Land,” said Kiersten Robinson, chief people and employee experience officer. “Dave and his team have been vital to Ford’s success around the globe, and Jim’s experience will help deliver and sustain best-in-class real estate, workplace experiences and facilities across the globe and, in turn, on Ford+.”
Prior to CBRE, Dobleske spent 17 years at JLL, holding a number of positions with increasing global strategic responsibility. The Ford Land role is a homecoming for Dobleske who spent 11 years at Ford in Project Management through 2002.
“I am excited to be rejoining the Ford team and leveraging my experience to contribute to bringing the Ford+ plan fully to life,” said Dobleske.
Like Dobleske going forward, Dubensky most recently had global responsibility for Ford Land’s real estate, engineering and construction, energy and sustainability, global design, facility management services, workplace experience, and corporate services.
Dubensky played an integral role in Ford’s global campus transformation plans and in the acquisition of Michigan Central Station, kicking off Ford’s new mobility innovation district in Detroit’s historic Corktown neighborhood. The MCS project comprises a sustainable community of new and revitalized buildings, shared spaces, a first-of-its-kind mobility testing platform, and 1.2 million square feet of commercial space.
In addition, Ford Land will lead the construction of two massive new environmentally and technologically advanced campuses in Tennessee and Kentucky to produce Ford’s next-generation electric vehicles and batteries required to power them at Blue Oval City in west Tennessee and Blue Oval Park in [central Kentucky.
Dubensky’s career with Ford included international assignments in Mexico, Japan and India, spanning finance, strategy, analytics, automotive credit operations and audit roles.
Dubensky and Dobleske will work together on a smooth leadership transition over the next month.

Ford Reveals Plans for Innovation District Around Michigan Central Station
- Ford’s vision for a 30-acre walkable community anchored by iconic Michigan Central Station is part of its plan to reshape the future of global mobility, working with other partners and connecting to a broader network of city and regional assets and innovation
- Along with a first-of-its-kind mobility testing platform and new open spaces, site plan prioritizes the needs of the community with sustainable amenities; recommends abundant green space, biking trails, cafés, shuttles, scooters, retailers, grocery stores, day care, housing and parking all within a 20-minute walk
- The industrial heart of the innovation district will be the revitalized Albert Kahn-designed Book Depository, to be transformed as a mixed-use maker space offering flexible workspaces, hands-on labs and innovation studios to spur collaboration
DETROIT, Nov. 17, 2020 – At a community meeting today, Ford Motor Company revealed the site plan for Michigan Central, an inclusive, vibrant and walkable mobility innovation district in Corktown, Detroit’s oldest neighborhood, as well as designs for some of the district’s first buildings. Ford’s multiyear development, including the restoration of the iconic Michigan Central Station, is on track.
In 2018, Executive Chairman Bill Ford announced plans to restore Detroit’s once world-class train station, abandoned since 1988, as the centerpiece of an innovation hub to help define the way people and goods will move around in the future. The vision includes an open platform for innovators, startups, entrepreneurs and other partners from around the world to develop, test and launch new mobility solutions on real-world streets, in real-world situations.
“This project is about preparing Ford for another century of innovation and success,” said Mary Culler, Ford’s Detroit development director and Ford Fund president. “At Michigan Central, we are taking a collaborative approach to innovation, including providing flexible workspaces that attract and engage the best minds to solve complex transportation and related challenges as we shape the future of mobility together.”
The 30-acre site plan, developed by lead architect and strategic planner Practice for Architecture and Urbanism, envisions a walkable community, anchored by the train station. It will prioritize the needs of residents and businesses, as well as the 5,000 employees who work there, connect with the surrounding neighborhoods and city, and preserve the history of the area with a mix of old and new.
Four key buildings make up the development – Michigan Central Station, the Book Depository, which sits adjacent to the station and is being revitalized into a maker space by architecture firm Gensler, Building West, a new construction to the west of the station, and The Factory, already home to 250 members of Ford’s autonomous vehicle business unit. Central to the plan is a first-of-its-kind mobility platform on the elevated train tracks behind the station, with new open spaces throughout that connect site buildings and welcome the community.

Self-Certify Survey
If you have symptoms, do not come to work. All employees will complete a COVID-19 Daily Survey and use the survey confirmation to gain entry into Ford facilities.
Temperature Scanning
Upon entering the building, all employees will receive a non-contact temperature scan. If your temperature scan is above normal, you will be asked to return home and follow provided instructions before returning to work.
Social Distancing
Workstations and office areas continue to be evaluated to ensure six feet of social distancing.
Personal Protective Equipment
Face Masks

WORKSPACE TIPS
- Create a dedicated workspace. Set up a safe, ergonomically sound workspace to consistently revisit each day.
- On a laptop? Use books or small boxes as risers for your laptop, and place a wireless mouse and external keyboard directly in front of your monitor.
- Place your monitor for maximum comfort. The top should be at or slightly below eye level and roughly arm’s distance away.
- Stand during Webex meetings. Try setting up a standing workspace and stand for 20-30 minutes at a time.
- Move around! Take a short walk around your living space or – if you have one – your yard or garden.
GOOD POSTURE TIPS
- While sitting: Keep your wrists as straight as possible, elbows and knees bent 90 degrees. Use pillows to support your lower back as needed.
- While standing: Stand straight, keep your feet shoulder width apart and your weight evenly distributed.
STRETCHING TIPS
Take breaks to stretch! It will increase blood flow and relax your muscles. Practice stretches* for your neck, your sides, forearmsand wrists to prevent stiffness.
- Forearm/wrists: Using your left hand, pull fingers towards your body, while keeping your right arm straight. Repeat for both wrists.
- Neck: With shoulders relaxed, shoulder blades pulled straight down your back, looking straight ahead, lower your left ear to your left shoulder until you feel a slight stretch in the right side of your neck. Repeat on right.
- Shoulder and sides: Reach hands to the sky. While keeping pelvis locked, SLOWLY bend to the left from the waist and reach arms to the left until a slight stretch is felt in the right side of the body. Repeat for other side.
*If you have a pre-existing condition, consult your doctor for specific stretches tailored to your condition.
