Product Development Center becomes Ford World Headquarters South as Campus Transformation Continues
When Ford World Headquarters opened in November 2025, it demonstrated how a thoughtfully designed workspace can transform how people collaborate, feel, and perform. And the transformation continues. Starting in May 2026, the former Product Development Center will be renovated top to bottom, bridged directly to Ford World Headquarters, and reborn as World Headquarters South. Housing approximately 5,000 team members, the reimagined building will be a natural extension of everything done across the world .
“In my 30-year career, I’ve seen new construction and demolition projects, but nothing quite so impactful as the global effort Ford is making to transform our workspaces.”
— Jim Dobleske, CEO and Chair, Ford Land
A New Chapter for an Iconic Building
Originally opened in 1953—where President Eisenhower delivered the first-ever televised address at a private business gathering—the PDC is where legends like the Ford Mustang® Mach 1, Ford GT, and Ford Ranger® were designed and unveiled. Now, Ford Land is reimagining this historic structure for the next generation of Ford employees.
Designed to Connect and Inspire
The renovation will refresh the building façade and flood the interior with natural light through new windows and skylights. Interior walls and drop ceilings will be removed to open the space. The renovation also prioritizes employee well-being — a 30,000 square foot campus fitness center will anchor a full suite of amenities including cafes, grab-and-go markets, wellness rooms, reflection spaces, and mothers’ rooms, mirroring the look and feel of the new Ford World Headquarters. World Headquarters South will also become the new home of Ford Racing — moving from outside the main campus to sit at the heart of it, closer to the product development teams it works alongside.
By the Numbers
When complete, the entire Ford World Headquarters complex will accommodate approximately 10,000–11,000 employees, with roughly 16,000 within a 15-minute walk. By the end of 2027, more than 90% of global Ford office employees will be working from new or renovated workspaces—part of a decade-long commitment to modernizing facilities across Australia, China, India, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Brazil, and the United States.
What began with the opening of a new World Headquarters is becoming something larger: a campus that puts collaboration, well-being, and pride at its center.
